Sophie Power
Sophie Power is a GB 24-hour ultrarunner, mum of three, and Founder of SheRACES. in June 2024 Sophie broke the Guinness World record for the fastest woman to run the length of Ireland, running 347 miles in 3 days 12 hours.......taking just 2 hours 17 minutes of sleep. In 2010, she signed up for the Marathon des Sables, never having run more than a mile. She has since run over 40 ultramarathons all over the world, from Bhutan to Iceland, including the 153-mile Spartathlon and the 268-mile Summer Spine.
BIO
Sophie came to the world's attention with a picture of her breastfeeding her 3-month-old baby whilst running the 106-mile Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB). Since then, she has advocated for women's rights in sports, founding She RACES, a campaign to make races better for women, which has had a global impact. Sophie is passionate about supporting mothers to be active in pregnancy and beyond, making a film about her struggles returning to running postpartum with a prolapse.
At the age of 40 she won her first GB vest with a PB running 235.7km in 24 hours and most recently finished top Brit at the World Championships in Taiwan.
